Webinar on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation: What Does the Textile Industry Need to Know?

The EU’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) introduces new requirements for packaging and packaging waste, which will also have implications for the textile industry.

What do the new rules mean in practice for companies that manufacture, import or sell textiles? What requirements are coming, when will they apply, and what should companies start preparing for now?

On Tuesday, 27 October 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00, NF&TA and Norsirk invite you to a webinar. Siv Elin Ånestad and Ane Olafsrud from Norsirk will provide an introduction to the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, with a particular focus on the requirements most relevant to the textile industry.

This is a key question in the project “Extended Producer Responsibility for Textiles: Towards Circular Value Chains”, owned by NORSIRK and managed by the Norwegian Fashion & Textile Agenda (NF&TA). The aim is to develop an EPR scheme that promotes circular value chains and innovation.

What the New Textile Regulation Means for Textile Producers and Retailers

By 2028, companies placing clothing, textile products and footwear on the Norwegian market will need to comply with a new regulatory framework governing how used and discarded textiles are collected, sorted, and financed. For producers, importers and retailers, this is about far more than waste management. It is about understanding what they will be required to pay and under which conditions they will operate within a system that is still under development.
