Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for textiles is rapidly becoming a reality across the Nordic region. To meet upcoming requirements in an efficient, coordinated and future-oriented way, Nordic producer responsibility organisations and key industry stakeholders have joined forces to establish Nordic Textile PRO – NORPRO.
NORPRO is a Nordic collaboration platform for Producer Responsibility Organisations (PROs) and key stakeholders across the textile value chain. The ambition is simple: to make it easier to develop effective and harmonised solutions for textile producer responsibility across national borders, benefiting producers, compliance schemes and the market alike.
Many textile producers operate across several Nordic countries simultaneously. However, producer responsibility systems, data requirements and operational solutions are often developed at the national level, creating unnecessary complexity and friction.
NORPRO has been established to ensure:
Through NORPRO, experience, expertise and perspectives from producer responsibility organisations, industry clusters and other key stakeholders are brought together to develop circular textile solutions that work in practice.
NORPRO has already been established as a collaborative platform for textile producer responsibility and, on 11 February 2026, submitted a joint application to Nordic Innovation.
The purpose of the application is to provide NORPRO with an operational foundation for collaboration on textile producer responsibility through:
The pilot project will lay the foundation for further development and scaling of the collaboration beyond the project period.
NORPRO is not intended to become a parallel system. Instead, it is designed as a shared platform for producer responsibility organisations and the textile industry across the Nordic countries.
It will serve as a space for sharing experiences, testing solutions, coordinating efforts and strengthening collaboration, both in response to new regulatory requirements and in pursuing new opportunities.
By working together, Nordic stakeholders can build more efficient, harmonised and circular systems for textiles, while reducing complexity for producers operating across multiple markets.
More information about NORPRO and its ongoing activities will be shared as the initiative progresses.
